Introduction To The 24BP

What is the Biobeat 24BP?

Your blood pressure is measured throughout the day by a small wearable sensor attached to your chest. It is compact and inconspicuous, enabling you to maintain your normal routine without disruption, even while sleeping.

The 24BP Chest Patch

Your 24BP kit includes a single-use, disposable chest-patch ready to be attached and used. No charging of the device is required.

What are the benefits?

24BP is an ambulatory blood pressure kit, used to measure your blood pressure as you live your normal daily life. Your blood pressure is measured throughout the day by a small wearable sensor attached to your chest.

It is compact and inconspicuous, enabling you to maintain your normal routine without disruption, even while sleeping.

Why is this approach useful? There are several reasons:

  • To establish a diagnosis of high blood pressure (hypertension).
  • To identify people who have higher blood pressure readings when in the clinic (known as ‘white coat syndrome’).
  • To help decide if blood pressure medication is required.
  • To help to decide whether any change to your medication is required.
  • To further investigate people whose blood pressure is hard to control.
  • To see how well blood pressure medicines are controlling your blood pressure throughout the day.
  • To see what happens to your blood pressure at night.

How is it performed?

The single-use disposable chest-patch takes your blood pressure through a technique called PPG, that uses LED lights to illuminate the blood vessels under the skin, detecting blood volume changes which are then translated to various cardiopulmonary measurements. The device automatically takes blood pressure readings every 15 minutes throughout the day. After 24 hours you can remove the chest-patch and discard it. The readings are analyzed to produce a detailed blood pressure profile report

What do I need to do?

You can continue your normal everyday life without making any changes. The test is being carried out to find out what your normal daily blood pressure is, therefore, it is important to carry on with your normal routine and do all the things you would usually do.

What should I do with the report produced at the end of the test?

Always consult your physician before making any changes to your health or diet program. The report does not diagnose any medical condition or is intended to replace your healthcare professional.

It is recommended to keep a diary whilst wearing the device to be used as a reference for your physician. A diary can include any medication you were taking (the name of the drug, dose, and time you took it), and if you had any symptoms during this period (pain, dizziness, etc.).
